I recently caught up on some Japanese history, particularly the Sengoku Period. The country was shattered by clan disputes, and warlords feuded constantly for almost 100 years. And it was awesome.

We keep getting movies and TV shows about medieval times and ancient europe. Why can't someone give us a movie/TV series about that?

Shgun is a decent older series about a Europeon sailor shipwrecked in 17th century Japan. And there's always a great deal of Japanese period dramas if your willing to read the subtitles.

It would be cool if there were more Western series outside of the Euro centric settings. Marco Polo was a cool idea, even if the execution was a little cheesy at times.

They do. Every year in Japan, these "Taiga Dramas" come out, and they're mostly about events in Japanese history.
